Respite Care Program
Respite care provides short-term relief for primary caregivers. It can be arranged for an afternoon or several days or weeks, and care can be provided at home, in a healthcare facility, or at an adult day care center. The primary goal is to give caregivers time to manage their personal affairs, rest, and take care of themselves, with the assurance that their loved ones are in safe hands.
Program Scope
Services include in-home care, adult day care, and short-term stays in care facilities. Our goal is to offer flexible and dependable care solutions that support the well-being of both caregivers and those they care for.
Benefits of Respite Care
- Reduces Caregiver Stress: Allows caregivers to take necessary breaks, reducing the risk of burnout.
- Improves Overall Well-being: Both caregivers and care recipients benefit from a change in routine and interaction with different caregivers.
- Supports Healthier Relationships: Provides opportunities for caregivers and care recipients to maintain healthier and more positive relationships.
Funding and Support
The Respite Care Program is funded by the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) through the Oregon Family Caregiver Program. This program aims to support family caregivers by providing them with resources and services to help manage their caregiving responsibilities effectively.

The program is available to family caregivers of adults who require continuous care and supervision due to age-related conditions, chronic illnesses, or disabilities. Priority is given to caregivers with limited access to other support forms and those experiencing high levels of caregiving stress.
