Hiring: Healthy Families Supervisior – Tillamook

This position is responsible for supervising Healthy Families Home Visitors who conduct home visits. They will perform administrative, management and training functions; may provide some direct services to clients; coach, mentor, supervise and train staff. They will also provide short and long range planning for service delivery and training; integrating components in all areas and assuring agency compliance with Healthy Families of America and State Performance Standards and State Performance Indicators.

Qualifications

  1. Master degree preferred or Bachelors with three years of relevant early human services, childhood education, child development and parent child attachment.
  2. A solid understanding of and/or experience in supervising diverse staff with humility, as well as providing support to staff in stressful work environments. Knowledge in reflective practice preferred.
  3. Experience with supervision, case management or program coordination. Including culturally diverse communities and families. Reflective practice preferred.
  4. Skills and knowledge of developmentally appropriate Early Childhood Education, prevention services age 0-3 population, child development, home visiting and parent child attachment.
  5. Experience with family services that embrace the concepts of family centered and strength based service provisions.
  6. Knowledge of parent-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect.
  7. Experience in providing services to culturally diverse communities/families
  8. Must have intermediate working computer skills and knowledge.
  9. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, families and co-workers in both verbal and written formats.
  10. Must have current pediatric and adult First Aid and CPR cards.
  11. Ability to participate in regular kneeling, stooping, bending, sitting on the floor and standing for long periods of time.
  12. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  13. Bilingual skills preferred
  14. Must be willing and available to work flexible hours.
  15. Must be on the Central Background Registry, pass a pre-employment drug screen and TB screen
  16. Must have dependable transportation and/or valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
  17. Evidence of ability to work in a cooperative team manner, to follow directions, Healthy Families America Best Practice Standards and program policies. This includes engaging in building reflective practice.
  18. Must be able to attend meetings and trainings that may require out-of-town travel and overnight stays.
  19. Ability to work with low income and/or special needs families, including families from a diverse population.
  20. Experience in home visiting with a strong background in early childhood prevention services.
  21. Infant mental health endorsement preferred

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervise, mentor, coach and administer work plans and directives to staff
  2. Monitor the staff performance, attendance, required documents, and time sheets of all staff.
  3. Recommend areas of improvement to staff and promote training that reflects the individual needs of staff members and/or the team as a whole.
  4. Help develop staff training plans
  5. Monitor case load levels; ensure that data forms for evaluation are completed correctly and timely.
  6. Check documentation and daily work of home visitors to ensure reports, assignments and responsibilities are completed on time and as required by Healthy Families.
  7. Help workers maintain a balance in home visit services between parenting education and handling family crises and needs.
  8. Facilitate the resolution of conflicts between staff.
  9. Supervise staff assigned to home visiting, including home visit observations and record checks.
  10. Purchase materials, supplies, equipment and services to maintain safe, efficient operation of site(s), prioritizing within budget constraints.
  11. Ensure completion of screening, assessments, education plans, transition plans and referral process according to policies and procedures.
  12. Serve as team leader to work closely with support staff, site staff, families, volunteer staff, local Early Learning Teams/HUBB and the State Office of Healthy Families.
  13. Provide leadership to staff in creating environments that are stimulating and conducive to learning.
  14. Provide leadership to staff in developing an individualized, relevant curriculum and family plans.
  15. Work with staff, specialists and consultants to identify and provide appropriate, timely and integrated services to children with disabilities and special needs.
  16. Must maintain program and client confidentiality policies.
  17. Ensure recruitment, outreach procedures and caseload guidelines are maintained according to program policies and procedures.
  18. Ensure activities are implemented on-site and in-home to establish positive links between home and program and support parents as primary educators.
  19. Participate in hiring and provide on-site training, supervision and evaluation of all staff.
  20. Provide leadership in recruitment, training, supporting and evaluating volunteers.
  21. Perform background checks on staff.
  22. Must maintain program, client and staff confidentiality policies.
  23. Provide Healthy Families information to the community.
  24. May perform Home Visitors worker’s duties as assigned.
  25. Must maintain a working knowledge of program plans, policies and performance standards.
  26. Other duties as assigned by Program Manager.
