Economic Impacts
Community Action Team believes that investing in the local community is the most effective way to reduce the incidence and effects of poverty. CAT does this by connecting individuals in need with the local services available to help them step out of poverty and into self-sufficiency. This includes everything from referring clients to the Department of Human Services to enroll in SNAP benefits to employing local contractors to complete Housing Rehabilitation and Weatherization projects.
In 2023, CAT served 7,984 persons and 4,244 households. 47% were children or seniors, and 42% were either employed or on Social Security. The economic impacts of this service year included:
- Providing 159 jobs through housing rehabilitation and weatherization contracts
- $53.4 million dollar impact of the Local Economy*1
- $6,650 estimated energy savings from weatherization projects
- $2,543,328 in annual rent savings
